Project in Progress

MEETING WITH THE PARENTS

The NDU Foundation hosted a meeting with parents, families, patients and youth technical experts, between the 18th and 20th of October 2024. Around 50 families with retinoblastoma patients aged between 15 months up to 50 years attended the meeting. The 10 guests (2 oncologists, 3 ophthalmologists, 1 software developer, 1 anesthesiologist, and 3 representatives from similar projects) attended the round table with participants and discussed many unresolved issues. The meeting was followed by some practical activities.

PILOT TEST #1

As we proceed with the development of the FunCamps Digital platform, we target to reach parents and those addressing children having retinoblastoma. Thus, the FunCamps shall provide activities where parents and children will connect, build on their relationship, and briefly forget about difficult moments in order to enjoy their time together.
For this reason, we tend to test activities developed together with parents and children.
On the 20th of October 2024, the NDU Foundation, together with Artistes du Monde for Kids, implemented activities to test the usability of the material developed so far.

PILOT TEST #2

The first digital camp took place on the platform during the week of 9 to 13 June. It was a week full of art, excitement and shared fun for young people of different ages.

For five days, young people from many different places immersed themselves in art, the senses and languages.

In addition, all the activities are available on the FUNCAMP platform so that they can be revisited whenever desired.

The trainers prepared the activities in a very professional, enjoyable and entertaining way. Melissa, Sergi, Amina and Marcela presented them in Spanish, while Raffaelle prepared them in English. Some of the activities were synchronous, while others were asynchronous. In any case, they were recorded and can be accessed at any time, allowing users flexibility in terms of scheduling. The comments and evaluations from participants were very positive!

On a technical level, the platform proved to be useful and well suited for digital camps.

Digital Camp at FUNCAMP - 18th October 2025

Forty-two participants attended, including children, young people and their families. The activity was led by Melissa Ramirez (AMK) from Belgium. The platform allowed following it live via YouTube Live and it was recorded so that more families and young people could access it. The title of the activity was: Happy Chaos: Wrapping with Threads and Fabric. It is one of the activities that was also carried out during the pilot test in June. In this case, the young people and children went out beforehand to collect elements from nature for their creation. The activity was a great success!
